There was a clash between Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media to President Bola Tinubu, and ARISE TV news anchor, Rufai Oseni on The Morning Show on Tuesday, February 11.
The exchange started when Rufai questioned the show’s guest, Bwala’s decision to serve in the same government he had previously criticized.
While responding, Rufai interjected, saying that Bwala should answer the questions he was asked rather than deflecting. Bwala in his response, asked the TV anchor not to control him as if he were a secondary school student.
“I’m not writing JAMB here; you cannot control me or talk to me like a secondary student. If you ask a question, pack and listen to the answer.” Bwala said.
Prior to his appointment into the current administration, Bwala had accused Tinubu of rigging the election and questioned his moral legitimacy. At the time he condemned the Tinubu government, he was a spokesman for the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
During the interview, Rufai asked why Bwala is serving in a government he had said was a ‘’joke and a night of thousand laughs”.
Responding, Bwala said;
‘’I was in the opposition. The role of the opposition is to oppose the government. In doing so, you deemphasize the strength of the government and emphasize your strength. Where they have strength, you allow them to argue their matter. When I made a decision on the 10th of January after I visited the President, I speak well of the president and support his government.”

Rufai: “I know your deflection tactics; you can’t play me. Answer the questions.”
