Abubakar Adamu Rano has reacted to people defecting from his party, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He described such individuals as having zero political value.
Rano who is the Managing Director of Kano State Radio stated this in an interview with Kadaura24, a Kano based online paper.
He said, “If you observe, all those whom Barau Jibrin claims to have recruited from NNPP Kwankwasiyya are not useful; they are incapable of achieving anything politically when election time comes.”
He emphasized that Senator Jibrin has been unable to attract the core youth members of Kwankwasiyya.
“Kwankwasiyya is fundamentally a youth movement, not for the kind of ineffective individuals that Barau Jibrin is bringing in,” he said.
Rano further revealed that Senator Jibrin would struggle to enlist prominent Kwankwasiyya youth leaders.
He said, “Do you think Barau can approach our vibrant youth leaders like Salisu Yahya Hotoro or Muhammad Kosawa? He wouldn’t even dare.”
He also advised Senator Jibrin to scrutinize those introducing defectors to him, suggesting that they might be exploiting him.
Rano further expressed confidence in Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s prospects for re-election in 2027.
“Our governor will win the 2027 election with majority votes,” he concluded.
Recall that last week Abbas Sani Abbas, the recently dismissed Commissioner for Rural and Community Development in Kano State, left the ruling NNPP and joined the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.
