Tragedy struck Lighitlubang village in Bungha District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, as suspected gunmen killed a family of five, leaving the community in mourning.
The victims, comprising a man, his wife, their child, and another couple, were reportedly slaughtered during the attack.
Tension remains high in the area as the gunmen extended their onslaught to other parts of the local government.
A source told The Guardian that “From Monday, January 27 till this Saturday, February 1st, no fewer than 10 people were cruelly murdered by the same suspected militia. It was confirmed by the police who witnessed the attacks in Mangu.”
Residents are appealing for increased security to protect the community from further violence.
Efforts to reach the Plateau State Police Command for comments were unsuccessful when this report was filed.
