Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia has reacted to a comment by US President Donald Trump.
Trump had warned that if Putin doesn’t stop the war in Ukraine, he will impose tariffs and sanctions.
Recall that Trump had said he would be forced to put “high levels of Taxes, Tariffs, and Sanctions” on anything sold by Russia if Putin refused to negotiate an end to his war in Ukraine.
However, Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesman, also responded to Trump’s threat of sanctions and tariffs.
“We do not see any particularly new elements here. He likes these methods, at least he liked them during his first presidency,” he told reporters.
Russia insisted that it saw nothing particularly new in Trump’s threat of sanctions.
Peskov maintained that Moscow was ready for an equal and mutually respectful dialogue with the US.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Deputy United Nations Ambassador, Dmitry Polyanskiy, who also spoke on the matter on Thursday, told Reuters that it depends on what a “deal” means.
