Nnamdi Kanu Like Mandela, Martin Luther King, Gandhi Who Spoke For Themselves – Lawyer

Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has compared his client to the likes of freedom fighters like Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mahatma Gandhi.

According to him, Kanu like these freedom fighters has spoken up for himself and his people.

Recall that on Monday, Kanu appeared before Justice Binta Nyako of an Abuja Federal High Court after the judge initially refused to continue with his trial.

In 2024, Kanu had challenged Justice Nyako to recuse herself because he lacked confidence in her handling of his trial.

Responding, the judge stepped down and returned Kanu’s case file to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, John Tsoho.

The Chief Judge returned the case file to Nyako, thereby forcing her to continue with the trial.

But while speaking in open court, the IPOB leader insisted that Nyako could no longer preside over his trial because she had recused herself.

However, Ejimakor, in an X post, wrote: “Throughout history, freedom fighters have spoken up for themselves in court & to the media. Nelson Mandela did.

“Martin Luther King Jr. did. Mahatma Gandhi did. The Court permitted MAZI NNAMDI KANU to speak & he did, very eloquently & from the heart. It’s a win-win for the case.”

Ejimakor further posted the Certified True Copy of Nyako’s decision on September 24, 2024, where the judge ordered: “The root of adjudication is in confidence. The Defendant has no confidence in this Court. Consequently, I hereby recuse myself from this trial and hereby remit the case file to the Chief Judge for further necessary action.”

Commenting on Nyako’s declaration, Ejimakor wrote: “Case closed.”
