A court has sentenced a Nigerian national, Chukwuka Nweke, to life imprisonment for the r@pe and k!lling of a 61-year-old Rovereto woman, Iris Setti, in Italy.
Nweke attacked the deceased in a public park in the northeastern Italian city of Rovereto in Trento on the evening of August 5, 2023.
ANSA Italy reported that Nweke was found guilty of aggravated m8rder, robbery, s3xual violence and sentenced last week.
Witnesses claimed that Nweke, who is a known abuser of drugs and alcohol, viciously attacked the woman, and threw her on the ground, hitting her face and head with his fists and a blunt object.
He fled the area but was caught a short time later by members of the Carabinieri, who stopped him on the Via Maioliche and were forced to use their tasers to subdue and arrest him.
The victim was taken to a local hospital but due to the severity of the injuries she had suffered, she d!ed several hours later.
