Federal Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has recounted her controversial altercation with the former First Lady of Anambra State, Ebelechukwu Obiano.
The incident took place on March 17, 2022, during the inauguration of Charles Soludo as Anambra State governor. During the event, Ebelechukwu Obiano reportedly approached the widow of Biafra leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and made a provocative remark: “What are you doing here? You shouldn’t be here.”
In response, Bianca slapped her, sparking a brief commotion before security personnel stepped in.
Although neither woman publicly addressed the cause of the altercation, reports suggest it was fueled by longstanding political and personal tensions.
Bianca, a former Nigerian ambassador and a key figure in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), had previously clashed with Ebelechukwu Obiano over party and leadership issues.
Marking the third anniversary of the incident, Bianca took to Instagram on Monday to share a video of the encounter alongside a cryptic message.
She stated that Ebelechukwu Obiano was under the influence and decided to test her before she retaliated.
“NEVER TURN YOUR LAST DAY IN OFFICE INTO A PAINFUL EXIT…. As the saying goes, ‘Pink butterflies, especially those with oversized wings or inflated egos, must never fly too dangerously close to the flame.’
“Exactly on this day, 17th March, in 2022, a certain individual under the influence decided to put this adage to the test. Trouble dey sleep….” she wrote.
Her post has reignited discussions on social media, with many recalling the dramatic moment and its implications in Anambra’s political landscape.
