President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received members of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council (GAC) led by Dr Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja on Friday, January 24.
This was made known to the public in a terse statement shared by the presidency on Friday via its official account on the X platform.
“President Bola Tinubu receives Dr. Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, Chairman of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council (GAC), and his delegation in Abuja,” the presidency wrote while sharing some pictures from the visit.
GAC is the highest political decision-making body of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.
Recently, the body endorsed the leadership change in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Recall that 32 lawmakers had impeached the former Speaker, Rt (Hon) Mudashiru Obasa, over allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
In his place, the Deputy Speaker, Mojisola Meranda ( Apapa, 1), was elected as the new Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
According to Western Post, the GAC endorsed the decision of lawmakers to remove Obasa.
The Council also backed the new leadership headed by Meranda.
Speaking to journalists after the lawmakers’ meeting with GAC, Meranda said the lawmakers came to seek the blessings of the GAC, adding that the members of the assembly were happy that the GAC blessed the change.
In removing the speaker, the lawmakers alleged multiple financial and statutory violations against Obasa as Speaker.
Before becoming speaker, Meranda was the assembly’s chief whip and also served as the deputy speaker.
