Gov Sule Explains Why He Made A U-turn On Tax Reform Bill

Gov Abdullahi Sule

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has spoken about why he decided to change his stance about the controversial tax reforms bill by President Bola Tinubu.

The governor, who was previously a vocal critic of the bill, made the revelation during an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

Sule explained that his opposition was never against the idea of tax reforms but rather the bill’s contents in its original form. He emphasized that the key objective was to ensure that the bill underwent thorough discussion before any decision was made.

“We have achieved our goal, and that is the reason today I talk differently. I talk differently because the goal we wanted to achieve has been achieved. We wanted the bill to be further discussed and not passed in its original form. Now, there are opportunities for further review, and I commend the House of Representatives, particularly the speaker, for the way they have handled the issue.”

The governor acknowledged the changes made to the bill, commending the House of Representatives. He noted that the concerns raised by him and other critics led to a more comprehensive review of the bill, resulting in opportunities for further evaluation.
