Elon Musk has confessed to an error by the United States U.S. government through the Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE.
He revealed that DOGE accidentally cut Ebola virus prevention aid.
Elon Musk, who disclosed this on Thursday during the U.S. Cabinet meeting, said the government made the mistake when it cut jobs and programmes in recent weeks.
“We won’t be perfect, but when we make a mistake, we’ll fix it very quickly”, the Tech billionaire stated.
He noted that the mistake was done accidentally while halting the US Agency for International Development, USAID,
Musk said “we all want Ebola prevention”, stating that the Ebola prevention was restored immediately, and there was no interruption.
“But we do need to move quickly if we are to achieve a trillion-dollar deficit reduction in financial year 2026.
“It requires saving 4 billion dollars per day, every day, from now through the end of September,” he added. “But we can do it, and we will do it.”
Recall that Ebola has been a contagious and life-threatening infectious disease, prevalent in Africa.
The virus is transmitted through physical contact and contact with bodily fluids.
USAID is one of the largest aid agencies in the world, employing around 10,000 people, two-thirds of whom work outside the United States.
