Tems
Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Tems has cancelled her upcoming concert in Kigali, Rwanda, scheduled for March 22, 2025, at the BK Arena.
She shared a graphic on her social media platforms with a prominent “CANCELLED” stamp in red, citing the ongoing violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) involving Rwandan-backed forces as the primary reason for her decision.
Recent reports indicate that the M23 rebel group, supported by Rwanda, has intensified attacks in eastern DRC, leading to significant civilian casualties and displacements.
The capture of Goma, a key city in the region, by M23 rebels has been described as a “declaration of war” by the DRC government.
Tems expressed her solidarity with the victims of the conflict and emphasized the importance of standing against violence and human rights violations.
She conveyed her hope for a peaceful resolution and extended her thoughts to those affected by the turmoil.
Fans who had purchased tickets for the Kigali concert are advised to contact the official ticketing outlets for refund procedures.
