Under The Igbo Customary Law, Payment Of Bride Price Is What Validates Paternity And Not DNA

Popular Nigerian lawyer, Stan Alieke,  has taken to his Instastories to disclose that under the customary law in Igboland, the bride price validates the paternity of a child and not even the result from a DNA test carried out.

In the post, Alieke further stated that if a man is yet to pay the bride price on the mother of his child, the child will be presumed a ‘’b@strd or fatherless.”

He also stated that the father of a child will not be allowed to take the child until he pays the bride price of the mom even if the woman is de@d.
