Two Killed As Police Repel Attack And Rescue 13 Kidnap Victims In Katsina

Upon receiving a distress call at around 1:43 am., operatives from the Sabuwa Divisional Police Headquarters swiftly responded, engaging the assailants in a fierce gun battle.

Armed bandits attacked Maibakko village, Sabuwa Local Government area of Katsina state, killing two persons.

The police were however alerted and they repelled the attack and rescued 13 kidnap victims.

Police sources said the attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday, February 6, when heavily armed bandits stormed the village, shooting sporadically and abd#cting residents.

Upon receiving a distress call at around 1:43 am., operatives from the Sabuwa Divisional Police Headquarters swiftly responded, engaging the assailants in a fierce gun battle.

The spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, who disclosed this to newsmen, said the exchange of gunfire forced the attackers to flee, leading to the rescue of 13 abducted persons.

He stated that sadly two civilians lost their lives during the assault, while another victim sustained injuries.

The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families, while security operatives intensify efforts to track down the fleeing bandits.
