Residents Say Katsina Authorities Were Alerted But Failed To Act

Residents of Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, who spoke with our correspondent, claimed they had alerted the authorities about a suspicious gathering of assailants, whose numbers grew to over 100. However, their calls for intervention went unanswered.

Reactions have continued to trail the abduction of Retired Major General Ibrahim Maharazu Tsiga, former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

General Tsiga was kidnapped from his home on Wednesday.

Residents of Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, who spoke with our correspondent, claimed they had alerted the authorities about a suspicious gathering of assailants, whose numbers grew to over 100. However, their calls for intervention went unanswered.

A source explained that the suspected terrorists arrived in large numbers on motorcycles. Initially, the assailants abducted 11 individuals, though three were able to escape.

Seven people were taken from Tsiga town, while two others were abducted from surrounding rural areas.

The Katsina Police Command has not yet released an official statement on the abduction of General Tsiga. Police spokesperson DSP Abubakar Sadiq mentioned that he was still awaiting details on the incident.
