The management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has rusticated 37 students for one academic session for their alleged involvement in criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance, and cyber-stalking.
According to documents obtained by SaharaReporters, the students were penalized for participating in a WhatsApp group allegedly formed to protest the university’s decision to introduce a third semester.
Following an investigation, the Students’ Disciplinary Committee presented its findings to the University Senate, which approved the rustication during its 123rd Regular Meeting on October 31, 2024.
A letter titled “Rustication for One Academic Session”, signed by Registrar Dr. Bala I. Ahmed, instructed the affected students to stay off campus unless granted written permission.
They will be allowed to return in the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic session, provided they appear with their parents or guardians and submit a written undertaking of good behavior.
