Stanley Alieke, former lawyer to controversial rapper Darlington Achakpo, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has advised individuals to sign a prenuptial agreement before marriage to safeguard their assets in the event of a divorce.
The lawyer, who gave the advice in a post on Sunday, February 2, said in absence of a prenup, one can protect his or her assets by acquiring properties in their parents’ names as inheritance and gifts are typically exempted from being shared during divorce.
“If you can’t get a prenup, acquire properties in your parent’s name then have your parents give you the properties as gifts or your inheritance,” he wrote.
“Inheritance or gifts are exempted from being shared during divorce.”
