Retire And Allow Others Rise, You Are An Illegal IGP

Nigerian human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore has opened up on why he insists on referring to the Police chief, Kayode Egbetokun an ”illegal IGP.”

In a tweet on Thursday, Sowore revealed that the IGP had attained the mandatory 35 years in service and 60 years age gap.

He took to X and wrote:

“These two police officers @PoliceNG were found to have committed the same infraction by failing to relinquish their positions upon retirement, one Inspector Linus Okoro was taken into custody for wrongdoing while the other Kayode Egbetokun proceeded to arrest citizens who called out his infractions. This is unfair! #RevolutionNow #EgbetokunMustGo

It is reported that Kayode Egbetokun, Nigeria’s Illegal Inspector General of Police, has hurriedly left a conference in Rwanda to return to Nigeria to address concerns by police cadres regarding his continued unjust, unfair and illegal occupation of the office of the IGP beyond the expiration of his tenure in 2024, having served for 35 years and also attained the age of 60. The straightforward solution is to retire and allow others to rise through the ranks. #egbetokunmustgo #RevolutionNow”
