The residence of Matazu Deyi, the Chairman of Malumfashi local government area of Katsina State, was invaded by gunmen on Tuesday night, January 28.
Sources said his police escort, Corporal Shamsudeen Lawal, was killed when the armed attackers invaded the residence of the chairman but were met with resistance. Although the council chairman and his family were at home at the time of the attack, they managed to escape unhurt.
Residents said the attack caused significant damage to parts of the Chairman’s house. Malumfashi LGA is among the areas in Katsina State frequently plagued by insecurity.
The Katsina State Police Command is yet to comment on this development
